Arrival of Ana Garcia Correa, ESR1 at Centrale Nantes
ESR at ECN, France for the next 3 years, Ana started her work in November. She will focus on "Wind resource assessment in deep waters through space-distributed measurement systems".
on November 2, 2020
Ana is from a small town in the south of Brazil. She got her degree in Oceanography at the Universidade Federal de Rio Grande, with a scholarship at ULPGC, Canary Islands, Spain. In 2018 she completed the master's degree in Oceanography at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, where she started to study offshore wind energy. She’s also a diver and her favourite hobbies are reading, biking and traveling. Currently she’s trying to adapt her lifestyle in order to take more care of the environment.
When asked about her motivations, Ana declared:
Eighty percent of the offshore wind potential is in deep waters. My main motivation in being part of FLOAWER network is to contribute in analysing this potential and reducing the LCOE so floating offshore wind can become accessible for more and more countries.
The subject of my project is wind resource assessment in deep waters, with a focus on the SEM-REV sea test site. I will be working with real data from the FLOATGEN floating wind turbine, currently tested at sea, which is an interesting challenge.
The best about FLOAWER is that it promotes the integration and collaboration between several universities and companies. Certainly, secondments will be a very important part of my training as a professional. My expectations are to develop my professional knowledge and to network and collaborate with others ESRs. I’m really looking forward to the first training.
