Open-Call for applications for 13 ESR positions

The FLOAting Wind Energy netwoRk (FLOAWER) is primarily designed to train researchers in the required multi-disciplinary engineering fields to better develop Floating Offshore Wind technologies under the constraint of Levelized Cost Of Energy minimization.

on November 13, 2019

It is for this purpose that 13 Early-Stage-Researchers (ESR) will be recruited and registered in a PhD program. They will be integrated into the overall research program and benefit from the complementary expertise of 25 major academic and industrial partners in the offshore wind energy sector and will jump into the most exciting period of the life-cycle of an energy segment, namely, the pre-commercial stage.

These 13 ESRs are dispatched across the 4 scientific workpackages:

The 13 Individual Research Programs are as follows:

  • Wind resource assessment in deep waters through space-distributed measurement systems (ESR 01)
  • Assessing the measurements of offshore wind conditions using LiDAR on floating platforms for resource assessment and power curve verification (ESR 02)
  • Offshore wind resource at deep sea applying satellite data and numerical modelling (ESR 03)
  • High-fidelity determination of wave load and load effects for floating Wind Turbine hulls subjected to severe wave conditions (ESR 04)
  • Hydrodynamic analysis and numerical modelling of heave-plates dedicated to the design of floating Wind Turbines (ESR 05)
  • Advanced physical Modelling Methods for Floating Wind Turbines (ESR 06)
  • Advanced design and optimized cost of mooring systems (ESR 07)
  • Multi-Used design components for different kind of floating sub-structures (ESR 08)
  • Horizontal and vertical axis WT aerodynamic modeling and testing (ESR 09)
  • Dynamics and interaction of floating turbines (ESR 10)
  • Ability of vertical axis Wind Turbines to be a competitive alternative to horizontal axis Wind Turbines for floating offshore applications (ESR 11)
  • Integrated design and LCOE minimization of horizontal and vertical axis Wind Turbines (ESR 12)
  • System design to minimize the LCOE of the Floating Offshore Wind (ESR 13)
